The Archies are at a gig when they discover that someone has sabotaged their instruments. They call Josie and the Pussycats to fill in while Reggie wastes a page telling lame jokes to the hostile audience. Unfortunately, someone tampers with the Pussycats’ instruments while they’re away from the van, leading the two teenage supergroups to contemplate just who the culprit could be. Sabrina enters the scene with a harmonica-playing Harvey in tow, and the weirdo raining on their parade snatches the instrument right out of Harvey’s hand and makes his getaway. I won’t ruin the resolution for you, but needless to say it’s as lame as the rest of the story.

With unispiring artwork and a jerky, uninteresting plot, you may be wondering why I’m bothering talking about Sounds Crazy To Me! There are a few reasons I’m mentioning it here. At fourteen pages, Sounds Crazy To Me! is practically novel-length for an Archie story, most of which run only a dozen pages at most, and rarely that. The more intriguing aspect of the comic is that it’s the only time I’m aware of, other then Archie Meets The Punisher, where more then two disparate parts of the Archie Universe collide. There are a number of instances where Josie and her posse invade Archie’s turf, and many more examples of Sabrina hanging out with the gang, but not all at once and never with such a sense of importance. Sounds Crazy To Me! is practically the Infinity Crisis of Archie comics. I was half expecting Superduck, Li’l Jinx or the Archie of Earth-R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E. to show up.
