I am a fan of both cartoons and blasphemy, so when I come across a blasphemous cartoon – I am tickled pink. You can imagine my surprise this week when I found out that many in the Muslim world do not share my enthusiasm for these sorts of cartoons.
It appears that many people are in a tizzy at the Danish government for allowing cartoons of the prophet Mohammed in a newspaper. In response the Danish government told people to simmer down. Since the initial backlash the cartoons have been reprinted in Danish and Norwegian newspapers and have been floating around the web. I was lucky enough to find one to share with all of you.
This news re affirms suspicions I have had for years; cartoons corrupt all that is good, holy, moral and right … I am off to get pencils.
I find it very humorous and telling that muslims can burn flags and effigies of world leaders and that’s totally ok, but a single comic is published in a paper not even in their own country, and suddenly they are calling for jihad. And what’s even funnier, is they are calling for it on the Danish AND america. Last I saw, this was published in a Danish newspaper, not an american one. So why are they now declaring holy war on a country that had nothing to do with it?
And as they protest with signs that say “behead the infidels” and “bomb freedom of speech”, do they honestly believe the rest of the world should take them at all seriously?

Well really, you’re kinda comparing apples to oranges. If they were burning effigies of Jesus then maybe you could make that comparison. We’re talking about Islam here, not a nation or a political leader.
I don’t think it’s particularly fair to equate a religion with a government in a case like this. It’s something I’m sure Muslims everywhere took offense too, not just Iranians, Syrians, Jordanians, etc…
Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t agree with them any more than I’d agree with Christians getting their panties in a knot if this was a cartoon of the Virgin Mary. I’m just saying that burning a flag or effigy of a world leader is a political protest which is practised by more than just muslims. Insulting an entire religion is a whole other ballgame.
I am both pro burning effigies of world leaders and pro insulting any religion.
I’m a very positve dude.
I’ll bring the matches, you provide the cartoons. Let’s have a freakin’ PARTY!!
